Hey curvy girls all over the world,
One of my favorite color combinations is red and black.
The two together creates such a striking look. Two weeks ago I found this red dress with a black mesh and sequin top from Simply Be. I thought the mesh offered a sexy understated vibe to the dress while the sequins added a fun effect and made it worthy for a night out.
Right now I am obsessed with my Jessica Simpson platform suede and patent leather heels and thought they would look great teamed up with the dress. Simply Be has some amazing styles on their website. I also ordered the white tuxedo blazer and can’t wait for it to come.
I do want to share with you guys a little story about how I stopped wearing red for an entire year. Back in my early 20’s I had worked for an education center. I was around alot of little kids. One of the kids that I was working with had gotten upset with me because I told him he needed to pay attention. On that day I was wearing a bright red boat neck sweater with a bow on the side. After I had told him that he needed to pay attention, he turned to me and said, that’s why you look like a big red Fat Albert. OMG! I was crushed. I couldn’t believe he said that to me. SO from that day on for an entire year I never bought or wore anything red. Silly, I know! But it showed me how uncomfortable I was in my own skin. After some self meditation and reflection. I worked on becoming comfortable with my body and as you can see, I have no problem wearing red or bright colors. And, I no longer allow what people say to me to affect how proud I am of my plus size body.
My whole family just oohed and ached over this dress. Beautiful!

The red and black dress looks beautiful.
The dress is spectacular…but what seals the deal is the patent leather in the belt & shoes. That gives it just that “umph” that makes u say – that is a showstopper!

One question on this dress, hard to tell in the photo but can you wear a normal bra with it (because of the mesh)? Or are you doing strapless or something else? Thanks!
