Hey curvy girls all over the world,
As plus size women we are often hard on ourselves when it comes to finding flattering clothes for our bodies. While wrap dresses, pencil skirts, and empire waists are proven styles that flatter a plus size body; that doesn’t mean that we should limit ourselves to just those styles.
As you all know, I am a fan of breaking all the rules when it comes to fashion and the plus size woman. I am a horizontal stripe lover and a fur (faux) lover. There are so many plus size women who are afraid of wearing anything that adds volume aka anything that makes them look bigger. Some of us avoid bubble coats, bright colors, and anything that’s voluminous.
To be honest, it’s not only plus size women who feel that way, non plus size women also live by the rule of not wearing anything that makes them look bigger. It’s embedded in our minds that looking bigger is wrong.
Over the years, as I became more comfortable in my body I slowly stopped adopting that idea or should I say fear of looking bigger. I felt as if it was holding me back. Now that’s not to say I don’t have days where I ask my home girls if something makes my butt or my gut look bigger. At the end of the day I try not to allow the fear of looking bigger inhibit me from trying new styles and silhouettes in fashion.
I’ve worked too hard to become comfortable in my skin that I’m not going to pass up a fur coat or a super cute oversized shift dress because it makes me look bigger. Instead, what I’m going to do is rock my burly furs and oversized dresses with confidence and class.
Talk to me: Do you avoid certain styles like fur and bubble coats for fear of looking bigger?

Although I’ve tried the boyfriend jean trend I try to avoid baggy jeans. They don’t work for me. Other than that I try out things first before writing them off completely. Love the fur btw!

This outfit is fabulous. Unfortunately I live in LA and it never gets cold enough to add coats to my wardrobe, I am thinking hard about adding this one.

This outfit looks so great on you! And I love that you are comfortable with your body. I hate how the media makes women think they have to be this wraith-like creature in order to be attractive. I think plus-size women look so much better than the runway models because they look HEALTHY. Keep stylin’ girl, you are absolutely gorgeous!
