Hey curvy girls all over the world,
A few weeks ago I was invited to Ashley Stewart’s newly redesigned flagship store in Brooklyn along with Plus Model Magazine, Madison Plus, and The Big Girl Blog. Before ASOS came to the states, before Faith21, Simply Be, and City Chic, Ashley Stewart was one of very, very few plus size brands that actually carried trendy items for plus size women. I remember back in the 90’s all the plus size curvy girls would go to Ashley Stewart for club gear, church wear, and casual wear. You would find 16 year olds and 20 year old women both finding their style needs at Ashley Stewart. I even bought my prom dress from Ashley Stewart when they used to sell formal wear.
RETHINKING ASHLEY STEWART
As the years went by I stopped shopping at Ashley Stewart because I felt like the quality wasn’t worth the money. Now don’t get me wrong I don’t think their clothes are expensive, but, if I am going to pay $40 for something, I do need a certain level of quality. So, when they reached out to me to showcase their new flagship store and their new styles I decided to check it out and see what changes they made.
You can check out my full review on The Budget Fashionista.
For attending the blogger event, Ashley Stewart gifted all attendees a head to toe outfit. Myself and CeCe from The Big Girl blog both chose this linen strapless jumpsuit after seeing it on one of the billboards in the store. CeCe got the black version. I also chose this super wide belt that I thought was cute along with a beige floppy hat and a few accessories.
The turban is a DIY from a youtube video I saw. You can check it out Here
Also, here are a few more pictures from my visit to the Ashley Stewart Brooklyn flagship store.
If you like what you see or even if you used to shop Ashley Stewart and stopped, check out their website and see what they have to offer.

Ashley Stewart is the store where I used to start first my shopping spree when I travel to the US.
It’s the only store where I know I will never be deceived by the jeans! They fit me very well!
I was really excited when they decided to ship overseas, saddly, the website is definitely not the same as what I like in stores!
So! Shall we go the the Brooklyn store when I will come?

You look AMAZING in that jumpsuit!! I love that color on you and the slightly darker belt is fabulous! I have never been to Ashley Stewart. I’ve never even seen the store before in the mall or anywhere.

free clothes! yay! I used to shop at AS a lot when they first opened. I loved their dresses and skirts. But you’re right about the quality. Too often the items in the store had threads coming apart from the seams, or were falling apart on the hangar, and no, I cannot pay $40 for something that is looks like it’s been worn 15 times already. So I hope these quality changes will be for all of their stores and soon!

I have always been tempted by the website…I don’t live near a store. How is the sizing?

I really like this look on you. Linen will never go away but can always be jazzed up as you did with the turban. I was surprised you weren’t wearing a necklace. The first shot made me think Queen

I love that jumpsuit…I don’t know if I am ready to go fully back to Ashley Stewart eventhough back in the days I got some of my best club gear from them *sighhh* They need to get more of a youthful look to their clothes like Lane Bryant and even Avenue. Both of these stores has improved the overall look of their line so they can too.

Ashley Stewart is trendy…sometimes overly trendy for the price tag. I rarely shop there and when i do it HAS to be on Clearance! The quality still isnt there for me and some of the clothes are just…well umm Gaudy! And i have noticed that a lot of the summer apparel makes it hard for a heavier chested gal to wear a bra (Yea..i know…there are strapless options..but not to many that you are not yanking and pulling on all day! LOL!)
That being said, I do like some of there dresses…and they have some awesome jewelry and belt selections So to me… i would like to see a change in Price point and quality…but i would still peek my head in from time to time just to see what they have
