Next to where did you get your shoes from, the question that I’m asked the most, especially during the summer months is where do you shop for plus size strapless bras. Ever since I became a D-cup in high school, wearing supportive bras has always been important to me. Especially strapless bras.
Strapless Bras For Large Breasts
Strapless bras are not an easy thing to wear especially when you hit the DDD category. Before I became a mommy, I used to be a comfortable DD. After I had my little munchkin, I quickly shot up to an F, which meant I could no longer shop for bras in store. I had to go online. I’ve had quite a few ups and downs (literally) when trying to find the right strapless bra.
There were times when I had to get creative. And when I say creative, I mean using duct tape, safety pins, and doing some MacGyver tricks just to get a strapless bra to stay put or should I say to get my boobs to stay put inside the strapless bra. Once I got tired of getting stuck by pins and the feeling of the duct tape ripping off my skin it was then that I realized there has to be a better way. Finding a strapless bra takes a little trial and error as well as patience.
If you have large breasts the main thing you’re looking for in a strapless bra is support and comfort. I believe women should have at least 2 strapless bras. One for fitted dresses and tops and one for t-shirts and lightweight sheer fabrics. I found a number of brands that carried plus size strapless bras that gave a comfortable fit and smooth look. All it took was some patience and a number of online purchases and returns to find the right strapless bra for me. I want to help you do the same.
Below are my personal strapless bra picks that won’t break the bank. Some I’ve tried and some I heard rave reviews about from fellow busty chicks like myself. I added little notes under the photo to tell you what each bra is best for. As large chested women, we all have different needs but the one thing these bras have in common is they are supportive. So, there will be no wardrobe malfunctions to worry about.
Currently, I’ve been rocking Lane Bryant’s multi strap convertible bra. When I say this bra is the sh*t, I really mean it. I am wearing it with my black dress below.
Even though it’s a convertible bra, I only wear it as a strapless. It really holds everything in place an requires no adjusting. The back has double strap bands for a secure fit and the cups are full enough to combat looking like you have a uni-boob.

I wore the Goddess Underwire lace bustier for my wedding and it was amazing. Everyone questioned me for wanting to wear a strapless, non-corseted wedding dress but I felt super confident in this bra. And I didn’t tug on my dress and bra at all. I’m a 44F!

I have the Butterfly Bra and I must say..its the BEST strapless I’ve ever had!

CRAP! None of these bras come in my size (34JJ)!!! UGH! I give up:-(! *Throws up hands and walks away* It’s officially time to save up for a breast reduction.
Sally says
I feel you Nikeya, I’m that exact size, 34jj. I won’t even dare try any of these tricks.

I’m glad I’m not the only woman out here in J/JJ. Finding bras and bathing suits is a hassle

Thank you for the information I want to wear strapless dresses and tops but my 42H breasts say otherwise. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that one of these will do the job.

I have every bra you listed except the Le Mystere and the Butterfly is my absolute favorite. I got it in black and nude when it first launched many moons ago. My back fat totally disappears thanks to the double back strap support! Three cons I would say are 1. I’m barely a C cup, but the smallest cup available is a D. 2. It is cut pretty high. I wish they made a plunge version of the strapless. 3. This is more of a personal problem, but I have limited use of my hands due to a neurological disorder so I can’t put the bra on myself. It would be easier for me to hook if there was only one really wide band as opposed to two.
I also love the last bra (Lane Bryant) a lot, but I wish the band was a little wider. Not much, just like half an inch or so. Love the plunge!
Thank you for putting this list together. I may have to buy that Le Mystere bra. It looks so comfy!

Hi, I have the Butterfly Bra in black as well. I had the nude, like you, a long time ago. But I lost a lot of weight and I gave the 2 larger ones to my daughter. I got the black one again but now I want the nude and Ashley Stewart no longer sells it. I’m very disappointed. The black isn’t appropriate for some things I wear a strapless bra with. Do you have any idea why they stopped selling the nude?

Like Ms Young I’m past the point of no return – 42K. Finding a bra in general is hellish on my side of the border (Canada)

I absolutely LOVE the Butterfly Bra!! I am thinking about buying multiples since I’ve finally found a strapless bra for large breasts that supports!! I also have the Lane Bryant bra but I don’t think it supports as well as the Butterfly Bra!

This is a comfortable bra that fits perfectly under all my clothes. I have worn this style for maybe 5 years. They are just what I wanted. Totally met my expectations!

I am a 40G and have always wanted to wear pretty halter tops and strapless shirts. When I found Lane Bryant’s convertible bra, I was soooo happy!! It fits awesome and doesn’t fall down. They do jiggle a bit when I wear it strapless, but what do you expect….they are some bigguns. I love that it doesn’t slide down as well, they have like some kind of glue or something on the inside that grips your skin. You should get one! They have come out with different colors now, too!
Wilsona81 says
@Tineke Yes, the Lane Bryant convertible is listed above and I have one myself. I love it too!

THANK YOU!!!! I think this is the greatest challenge I have as a bountifully-breasted woman. I finally see a light at the end of this very long, dark tunnel.

I think one of the most important things as an older (mid 40s) curvy woman is having good foundations!!! I have had two children who are now over 18 and I feel like my bust sags terrible. I am going to check on these bras. I want something that lifts me up and that does not create a uni-boob. I am just trying to decide which one of these to try first!!!!

I wear a 40 J. Im looking for a strapless bra Will pay top dollar and must be excellent Quality please help! At the end of my rope.
Bonnie says
My main concern with strapless bras, is that they seem to leaving me pointing downwards…now I know I have big breasts, and don’t expect “perky” but I don’t like the downward slide look either…how, or what do you ladies do or use to avoid that look..as well as the uniboob look??
Reia says
Hey ladies …if you are a 36 DD like me I bought my 42 DD strapless bra from..clutch your pearls….wallmart..yep i said it wall mart for $16….it fits very well and feels comfortable…

This is such a very helpful article especially to those people who hit the DDD category. Strapless bras are really not an easy thing to wear especially when you hit that category. I’m so glad you shared this!
