Remember last summer when plus brand Eloquii announced that they were closing up shop? Many of us had our speculation as to why they closed down. Some thought the clothes weren’t all that great. Others felt like there were fit issues and many believed that the brand didn’t do a great job of marketing to the plus size customer. I guess, we will never know what the real reason was but I suspect that there may have been some financial issues with The Limited (owner of Eloquii at the time) and when a company has financial issues they start doing what is called corporate restructuring and unfortunately Eloquii was a casualty.
Well, after a mini hiatus Eloquii is back and word on the street is that they are working independently aka no longer under The Limited umbrella. They have a new investor and work under their new found independent name Eloquii Designs, Inc. The relaunch of Eloquii speaks volumes as to the change that can happen when we use our voices. Eloquii had a strong following and when the brand shut down, shoppers were disappointed and they tweeted, sent Facebook messages, and wrote letters to tell the company how much they wanted them back and now they are.
The official re-launch of Eloquii is today and we see alot of promising signs. For one, the clothes are fashion forward, which is a major departure from the styles they presented before. The new Eloquii is creating fast fashion styles right off the runways. They’re aimed towards the fashion savvy plus size consumer who wants to stand out.
“Our goal for ELOQUII is to be the leader in fashion, sizes 14-24,” states Mariah Chase. “We’ve listened to what customers thought about the brand prior to closing, and took this knowledge to build an improved experience that delivers an on-trend and price-conscious brand for a consumer who quite frankly hasn’t had the fashion options she should.”
There are lots of sexy graphic print body con dresses, flouncy skirts, and edgy jackets. The prices are about the same and they are offering sizes from 14-24.

I don’t think they’re better than before, but offer a different selection. I like the current offerings, but as a woman in a professional work environment, some more classic items would be appreciated. Addtionally, while many plus sized women enjoy the “bodycon” look, many don’t. I think they should increase variety in the dress selection.
I always enjoy seeing fashion forward designs in any plus size store. With that being said I also work in a corporate environment. One of the things I enjoyed the most about Eloquii were their classic pieces which essentially are timeless. I can only hope the new management of Eloquii keeps that in mind as well.
