Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Finally NYC weather is beginning to break and transition out of old man winter mode into spring time fun weather. I couldn’t be more excited. I was getting really tired of wearing a heavy wool coat everyday. Whenever the warm weather rolls around I am one of those women who suddenly feel the urge to get in shape before its tank top time. As I said in my article last month, plus size women do workout and we do try to stay toned and keep in shape (you can read all about it HERE). This winter I definitely indulged in comfort foods and holiday treats and I have packed on more than a few pounds to say the least. Although, the number on the scale has moved up I will never hide my body.
One body part that has always been my enemy for lack of a better word, is my gut. Even when I was a skinny girl I always had a gut and I used to think it was a major wardrobe malfunction. Anybody who knows me, knows that after getting dressed, the first question I would always ask is, “Is my gut hanging out?” Over the years, I have learned to work around my gut and started working with it. Most women think they can’t wear anything body con if their stomach is large but when you wear something that has flattering detail then you can show off your curves and mask that ample tummy simultaneously with one piece.
To show and prove, I chose this super cute and chic Kiyonna lace ruched waist top from Gwynnie Bee. As you all know, I have become a huge fan of Gwynnie Bee aka the netflix of plus size shopping. I ‘ve always wanted to try this top from Kiyonna but wasn’t sure about the fit. Luckily Gwynnie Bee had it and I was able to try it with no commitment to buy. I can return it with no problem. I knew it would be the perfect piece to embrace my shape even though I put on a few pounds. If you don’t know by now ruching is your best friend, especially if you have a large stomach. The ruching slims down my obliques creating the illusion of a smaller waist. The bright color flatters my complexion. I went with a pair of dark skinny jeans that embrace my curvy thighs and hips. Both pieces make me feel and look proud of my body and it creates a more defined shape to my apple figure.
Moral of this story is, no matter your size or what negative thoughts you have about your body it is important to accept what you see in the mirror and work with it, not against it. Love your body!
