We discuss career advice and style tips to make it in their industry.
For today’s feature, we chat with Kelly Augustine, the Influencer coordinator for the plus size fashion subscription brand, Gwynnie Bee and founder of Kelly Augustine.com. We met with Kelly in Long Island City outside of the Gwynnie Bee offices. We chatted with her about her career and office style. Here’s what Kelly had to say:
How did you get into your field? I take my blog very seriously, and it is a representation of my work and tone. After working with the company as an affiliate, I was brought on as a Visual Merchandiser. Blogs can lead to the right things if you let them!

What do you love the most about your career? I love that I’ve found a space to apply all of my skills. I have a degree in Advertising/PR, a certificate in Brand Management from FIT, and knowledge from having a blog for years. To be able to bring all of those things together has been tremendous.Â

The best career advice you would give someone breaking into your industry? Be passionate about the multifaceted consumer, her needs and wants will shape your behaviors. Dig deep and let the lifestyle consume you. It will make you much better at your job!
 How would you describe your office style? Luckily, I’m in an environment where I’m free to wear what I want. On any given day you can catch me in a pencil skirt with a sweatshirt/pair of jeans, or an easy dress. Since I’m always running from our sample closet to a photoshoot to meetings, I like to be as comfortable as possible.

What are you wearing today:Â I’m wearing a vintage blazer, Zara cold shoulder ruffle top, an H&M scarf as a headwrap, Jeffrey Campbell boots, and these immaculate Lane Bryant high waisted flare jeans that I’ve lived in since I got them

What are your professional do’s and don’ts for workwear? DO always wear something that you can move around in. Regardless of where you work, it’s a big DON’T to be tugging at your clothing all day. Don’t go for too tight skirts or blazers that are too snug. I’m most confident when I’m in great clothes, I am free to concentrate on my job and not my back being out or my skirt being too short.Â
What is your go to piece for transitioning from desk to dinner? A jacket is always a great way to transition from desk to dinner. A dress with a blazer for day becomes a little black dress for dinner at night. It’s a no-brainer!
What are your top 5 places to shop at? I’m a serious Lane Bryant shopper, their fit is usually spot on for me. I also love Eloquii and H&M for trend pieces, Nastygal for shoes, and Carmakoma for a twist on the basics.Â
