ALISSA ON THE SCENE: IFB CONFERENCE

For the conference I opted for a business casual look. I wore my pink OSP blazer, Kmart draped shorts, a ruffled tuxedo shirt, and my fuchsia BCBG peeptoe pumps.

After saying hello to some of my blogger friends, the panels started at 10 am and panelists included some of the top blogger’s on the web sharing their advice on how to make blogging a business,keeping integrity, and being honest and true to your readers. My favorite panel was the Balancing Act panel that talked about business & blogging. The star of the panel was Ari from Style Caster who really gave no holds bar advice on making your blog a business and how to get the job of your dreams by blogging.

The keynote speaker of the event was Mr. Joe Zee himself from Elle magazine. He shared his insight on how social media has changed the magazine industry and how blogger’s are the future of fashion. Of course, I had to ask Mr. Joe Zee where he thought plus size blogger’s stood in the magazine and fashion industry and he said he thinks there is a huge market and for me to keep pushing the magazine and fashion industry to create a voice for plus sizes. He also told me to not just blog from a plus size prospective but from a fashion perspective.

In between panels IFB kept everyone busy with various sponsor booths. One of the hot sponsors booth was KMS hair products . They were giving free hair makeovers using their styling products.

The day of the conference was humid and rainy so by the time I got there my hair fell flat. I stopped at the KMS booth to get my hair curled.

I also ran into Claire from the Fashion Bomb who was one of the panelists at the conference.

Aldo was also a sponsor and was running a game of Russian shoelette to win a free pair of shoes.
