Peplum Skirts
The one thing I love better than a peplum top is a nice peplum skirt. Peplum by nature hides anything you may want to cover and the form fit of the skirt accuentuates your lovely curves! They are perfect for the warm weather and can transition from day to night! Tuck in your favorite blouse for a sleek workwear look, or pair with a crop top on your night out.
Pencil Skirts
Every curvy girl should have at least one basic pencil skirt in her closet; in the summer time, leave that plain grey or black wool skirt in the back of the closet – instead you can give your skirt hanger a boost with a light summer- time denim or fun print from Forever21. For my summer pencil skirts, I always lean towards looser, more unfitted tops to balance out the shape of the pencil skirts.
High-Low
Hi-lo skirts are back again this season and I must admit I am obsessed with the skirts more than the dress styles. I love the idea of having the sexiness of mini-skirt without of the commitment. Eloquii’s draped rendition of this look is amazing! I love the idea of pairing these skirts with either sandals or boots when the weather gets colder.
Unique Details
Most of my purchases for the summer have been things in basic colors like black, white, navy, or beige with interesting details that make them stand out. The Anne Klein skirt has a well-structed pleat in the front and an eylet border – taking a plain white skirt and making it amazing. ASOS also takes the idea of a checkered pattern and layers it with sheer to make a great black skirt (they also have it in an ecru)
Airy A-line
In the skirt world, A-line skirts have always been a big pet peeve of mine; you have to make sure they are not too short in the back, and not to long in the front – make sure you can pick up your pen if you drop it…. okay so they’re not my favorite – but what summer wardrobe isn’t complete with atleast one 1 fun airy A-line skirt? I love the color blocking on Modcloth’s skirt and the waistband on the Old Navy one is is nice and thick. Opposite of pencil skirt, for the A-line skirts you generally want to go a little more fitted for the tops, but depending on how these skirts lay on you – you could even get away with a shorter loose-fiting top.
